CASE STUDY - Motorway Bridge Barriers, Walkways & Bus Shelters

August 2011

CAM have recently completed the new K Road Over bridge Bus Shelters.

The existing shelters are over 40 years old and are very visible from the motorway below as the bridge runs right over the Auckland 'spaghetti junction', one of the busiest roads in New Zealand. The architecturally designed bridge barriers and bus shelters (doubling as covered walkways) were manufactured and installed by CAM in time for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The manufacture involved large steel components, glass, plexiglass, specialist fixings, steel panels, acrylic roofing, wood cladding and more. This project had many complexities including a tight timeframe, the need for continuing foot traffic across the bridge, safety with a multiple lane motorway and on ramps running directly below.
